We've had a couple of great work days! We are very proud of this group of students who are learning to work together, work cooperatively and respect one another.
This morning we had some time to complete the second chapter of Number the Stars. I look forward to seeing an improvement in the second comprehension questions compared to the first. We worked on our writing skills including adding details and paragraphing, while writing about how the experience of Waterton impacted/shaped us.
Our class had a great discussion about GOAL SETTING. Some of the ideas that the kids brought up were that goal setting is important because it "improves us," and "makes us better people." They also said that goal setting inspires "HAPPINESS" and "CONFIDENCE." We watched an animation video explaining how to create SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, Timely) Goals. During Health, each of us spent time developing three short term goals we would like to achieve at school.
!!!HOMEWORK:
Students, Please remember (as mentioned last Friday) that you have a Social Studies Quiz on Thursday on the Provinces and Capital Cities. You will need to identify each province/territory/capital city on a map exactly like the one you were given in class. You will be marked on knowing the information. A separate mark will be given for accurate spelling.
The following link can be used to help study for our quiz:

PARENTS:
Please remember to book your Parent Conference online. You can find the link on our school website. If there are any problems in doing so, please contact us! We look forward to seeing you!
BOOKFAIR: There is a Scholastic Book Fair in our Learning Commons. Students will have an opportunity
in class to visit the Book Fair. The Book Fair will be open for purchases Thursday evening and Friday morning during Conferences.
Enjoy the evening!
