We went over our Cellphone article this morning. We also practiced using commas in a series. We are working on our persuasive skills and persuasive writing. Our Mad Science presentation was this morning. Check out some of our comments! Mad Science We had our Mad Scientist visit us today! Let us fill you in on some of the things we experienced! *There was a color change (chemical change) made from a certain acid. It turned pink -DB *We learned that vinegar is an acid, which is the "opposite" of a base -RZ *We made elephant toothpaste which is yeast, 3% hydrogen peroxide, water and detergent - ANT *We had eight cards and we had to sort them by physical or chemical reaction -NWJD *Our scientist chewed up crackers, drank water and spit it in a tube! We learned that bromothymol blue changes color when saliva is added because of simple and complex sugars. - ARP *When our scientist put the yellowish brown liquid (iodine) on an animal cracker and a normal cracker and a sugar cube, the iodine reacts to starch and it made the crackers black but the sugar cube didn't change because it wasn't made out of starch. -NSD *Our scientist mixed yeast and water. He put a balloon over it and the air from the yeast and water made the balloon inflate. -AAP |
